Rehabilitation and reconstruction of major road connection of Lagos-Shagamu Expressway

FG introduces new taxes on beer, imported vehicles, plastics

The Federal Government has introduced new set of taxes on beer, imported vehicles and single use plastics. Fire razes Ooni’s palace

  Fire razed a section of the palace of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, on Friday night after one of the electrical appliances exploded.  The Nation gathered that the incident occurred on around 11:30pm and was noticed by one of the palace guards.  A statement by the Director, Media and Public Affairs,  Ooni’s Palace, Comrade Moses Olafare confirmed the incident, blaming it on power surge. The Chairman House Committee on Appropriations,   Hon Aliyu Muktar Betara , has emerged as the preferred choice to become the next Speaker, according to an opinion poll. In the survey conducted by Parliament Inc, respondents identified Betara as their favourite to succeed Femi Gbajabiamila among other aspirants. In a statement made public on Friday, the organisation claimed hat the Borno lawmaker was the overwhelming choice of his colleagues for the job.  The statement said that out of 200 new members interviewed, 178 voted in favour of Betara, representing almost 90 percent of the respondents.  It said while 10 votes were split among Deputy Speaker Idris Wase, Tajudeen Abbas, and Yusuf Gagdi, the remaining aspirants got zero.  The poll, however, said that two lawmakers were either undecided or refused to respond to the survey.  “Aliyu Muktar Betara, the lawmaker Biu/Bayo/Shani and Kwaya Kusar Federal Constituency emerged top of our poll for the Speakership by a wide margin,” the state

FG insists on exit of subsidy regime in June

The  Federal Government has insisted that the payment for fuel subsidy will come to an end in June, 2023. A statement from the Federal   Ministry of Finance , Budget and National Planning gave a clarification on recent report the Federal Government had shifted the exit date for fuel subsidy payment. THE All Progressives Congress (APC) has debunked reports circulating on social media regarding zoning arrangements for leadership positions in the 10th National Assembly. The party stated that it has not yet made any decisions on the matter and will communicate its position through its official information channels. The Management of Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative (IDPIL) has announced the opening of registration for the 2nd Edition of the body’s Annual N20 Million Scholarship and Bursary Award. The body launched the annual scheme last year in Igbogbo, where hundreds of undergraduates from various higher institutions of learning benefitted. The IDPIL announced opening of registration for the second edition of the scheme on its verified social media handle on Thursday.
