Senator Abiru Eid-el-Kabir Prayer With The Lagos Dignitaries

​ Yesterday, I joined my fellow Muslim Ummah to observe the Eid-el-Kabir prayers at the Eid Praying Ground in Ota-Ona, Ikorodu. Shortly after the prayer, I paid homage to our revered monarch, HRM Oba (Engr.)Kabir Adewale Shotobi, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu at his palace. Kabiyesi prayed for the peace and prosperity of all and sundry in Ikorodu and Nigeria at large. I also joined the President of the Senate, His Excellency, Dr Godswill Obot Akpabio who came  to Lagos to pay courtesy visit to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. I also hosted esteemed constituents, party leaders, family and friends at my Constituency office and my residence in Ikorodu for Sallah party. #TokunboAbiruIsDoingGood

He arrived at the presidential wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos around 5:05 pm. He was welcomed by a sea of dancing supporters who have been waiting for hours for his return. President Bola Tinubu will arrive in Lagos today ahead of the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations. He is expected to arrive at his private Ikoyi home to observe his first Sallah celebration as President. The Nation  reports Tinubu concluded his official trip to Paris during which he participated in the summit for ‘A New Global Financing Pact’ hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron. Last week, a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Special Duties, Communication and Strategy, Dele Alake indicated that the “President will be back in the country in time for the upcoming Eid-el-Kabir festival.”

The Permanent Secretary,   Ministry of Foreign Affairs , Amb. Adamu Lamuwa, says the role of Nigeria as big brother in Africa had helped in addressing security challenges in the continent. Lawamu, represented by the Director, Policy, Research and Statistics, Amb. Samson Itegboje, said this at the National Defence College security seminar on Tuesday in Abuja. The theme of the Seminar is “Nigeria’s Foreign Policy and Transnational Security Changes in West Africa”.  He said Nigeria’s foreign policy objective on Africa was premised on the basis of its big brother status in the continent and its contributions to peace in different countries. FG will save N2tr from subsidy removal in six months, says World Bank

The  World Bank  has predicted that the Federal Government will save N2 trillion in the remaining six months of 2023 with the removal of petrol subsidy and over N11 trillion by 2025. The World Bank made this projection in its June 2023 Nigeria Development Update released on Tuesday in Abuja. According to the NDU report, the removal of the petrol subsidy and FX management reforms are vital steps toward rebuilding fiscal space and restoring macroeconomic stability.  The report emphasised the need for further policy reform measures and acknowledges the critical reforms that the new administration has already initiated to address macroeconomic imbalances.  It advised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take advantage of the opportunity to have a transformative impact on millions of Nigerians and establish a solid foundation for sustainable and inclusive growth.  The NDU recommended implementing a comprehensive reform package, including a new social compact to protect the poor and vulnerable tow

‘Operators engaging NCC for tariff hike’

Telecom operators yesterday said it is working with the regulator of the industry, the  Nigerian Communications Commission  (NCC),  to raise the prices of its services to its consumers. The operators, acting under the aegis of Association of Licensed Telecoms Operators of Nigeria (ALTON), said the cost of operation determines the prices of the finished products, adding that the industry will not be self-sustaining if it continues to incur more cost of production and sell goods at prices that are less commensurate with the costs. Reacting to the proposed 40 per cent hike in electricity tariff by the DisCos, which is coming on the heels of the implementation of 7.5 per cent on diesel and removal of petrol subsidy, ALTON Chairman, Gbenga Adebayo, in a telephone interview, said the policy changes so far have impacted on the telecom sector, adding that the group was talking with the NCC to charge the appropriate prices for the final products. BREAKING: FG declares Wednesday, Thursday public holidays

The Federal Government has declared Wednesday June 28 and Thursday June 29, 2023 as public holidays in commemoration of this year’s  Eid-el-Kabir  celebration. The government felicitated with the Muslim Ummah at home and in the diaspora on the occasion of the celebration.  The declaration was contained in a statement by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Dr Oluwatoyin Akinlade.  The statement reads: “In the spirit of this special occasion, during which we commemorate the great virtues of obedience, sacrifice and faith as exemplified by Prophet Ibraheem (Peace of Allah be upon him), Muslims, and indeed all Nigerians are enjoined to make sacrifices for the growth and development of our communities and our great country, Nigeria. “We are hopeful that the prayers and sacrifices that come with this great celebration as well as the message of Eid-ei-Kabir will bring about peace, unity and progress in Nigeria. “Happy Eid-el-Kabir to all Nigerians!”

2023 Sallah Provision: Over 6000 FoodPack Provided By Senator Abiru To The Vulnerables

On this day, June 25th, 2023: The Lagos-east Senatorial District Legislator in the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Distinguished Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru provided over ''Six Thousand (6000) Food-Packs'' for the vulnerables across the jurisdictional Districts through the divisional constituencies office in Ikorodu, Epe, Somolu, Kosofe, and Lekki.  The Food-Pack was structure to be received from the geopolitical Ward by Ward that makes 16 LGAs/LCDAs. According to his Official social media Twitter Handle, He said; We understand that times have been tough, and it's during times like these that we need to support each other   within the Lagos East Senatorial District. Mercy- Bag tagged as ''Apo-Anu'' was initiated and pioneered by Reps. Babajimi Adegoke Benson (HRM) and his Wife, Hon. Princess Adejumoke Benson to commemorate the ''World Food Day'' in regards to giving back to the community.
