MILESTONE ACCOMPLISHMENT AS HON WASIU ADESINA SIGNS IKORODU LOCAL GOVERNMENT 5TH LEGISLATIVE BYE-LAWS.
Leader of the council, Councillors, Ikorodu LG customary court judges, Heads of Department, Legal Officers, Internal Auditor and Clerk we’re amongst executive members present at Ikorodu local government secretariat as Hon Wasiu Adesina signs 5th legislative bye-laws on the 19th of August 2021.
The bye-law saw drastic amendments made to enhance regulations in the local government for adequate growth and sustainable development.
The Introduced & amended bye-laws includes; Activation/Advertisement Control Bye-Law Development Levy Bye-Law, Environmental Sanitation Bye-Law, Food and Regulated Premises Bye-Law, Liquor Licensing and Prohibition of sales of liquor in motor parks Bye-Law, Merriment/Entertainment Permit Bye-Law, Radio & Television, Computer, Satellite and Communication Mast Bye-Law, Registration of Street Naming & Renewal Bye-Law, Regulation and Control of Commercial Motorcycle and Tricycle, Regulation of Traffic, Parking & Prohibition of Indiscriminate Parking Bye-Law, Revenue Items and Rates Bye-Law, Sales of Aerated Water & Control bye-Law, Establishment of the Committee on lkorodu, Local Government Micro Transport Service, Illegal Trading on Street, Road/Express and Establishment of Market, Regulation of Operations of Local Security Operatives, Prohibition of Loitering of School Pupils during official School Hours, Registration of Car-Wash and Control of Water Flow on the Road, Establishment and Regulation of Private/Corporate Businesses, Open Space and Parking Space, Regulation of Establishment and Operation of Public Toilet, Regulation of Shops and Kiosks, Regulations of Dilapidating & Cutting of Tarred Road.
The bye-law was presented to the executive chairman by the leader of the council, Hon Adebowale Adebola (Council leader of the 5th assembly, Legislative arm of Ikorodu local government).
“We appeal to residents to obey our laws on Environmental Sanitation, illegal parking, street trading etc, Offenders will be brought before the Court, for necessary actions” Hon Adebowale
In his remarks after signing the bye-law, Hon Wasiu Adesina averred, “This bye-law will help to enhance my administration to perform better. The court should make judicious use of the bye-law because it will help the local government in areas of revenue and also curbing every form of social vices”
“If this is effectively put to use by our judiciary as a strong reference point, it will gradually become difficult for people to default to our rules and regulations across this region”
“I also want to enjoin our 5th legislative chamber to ensure that the next bye-law formulation is centred around the ‘Security’ of Ikorodu local government, Let’s begin to enact laws that will completely eradicate cultism, Ajagun-baales and every other form of social vices affecting our communities. If that is done, the council can have something to effectively rely upon whenever those perpetrators are arrested.
The management of Ikorodu local should continue to support this administration at the legislative arm by ensuring that laws are documented in proper order, I want to appreciate our councillors, clerk who ensured we realised a rebranded law for the local government. As we continue to work together, Ikorodu will continue to progress” Hon Wasiu Adesina added
