By Araba, Olawale Enifenilanfe: The origin of the phrase “Happy New Month” at the beginning of every month is not clear, but it is likely that it is a variation of the common greetings “Happy New Month” which is traditionally said at the beginning of the year.  The phrase may have been popularised as a way to express well wishes and possibility towards the start of a new month, similar to how “Happy New Year” is used to express well wishes and positivity towards the starts of a new year.
