Road Blocked, As The Ikorodu Indeginous Concern Youth Protested For 4-6 Commissioners From Governor Sanwo-Olu

By Araba, Olawale Enifenilanfe:

The ''Ikorodu Indigenous Concern Youth'' under their convener leadership of the former Supervisor of Education for Ikorodu local government, Hon. Prince Adeyinka Adedeji Osho, and the interested residents youth had a peaceful protest against Lagos State Commissioners' list released by His Excellency Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu today, Monday, July 31st, 2023 to express their intention towards why their jurisdiction deserves more than one commissioner (Miss Ruth Abisola Olusanya, Lagos State Commissioner For Agric) on the recent release names nominated a couple of days ago, Saturday, July 29th, 2023.

During an interview with the former Supervisor for Education, Prince Adeyinka Adedeji Osho, he said, The advocacy focused on the imagination of Ikorodu division in the skim of themes in Lagos State, and we want a very good representative in the Lagos State cabinet.

The 64,796 votes that we contributed during the recent gubernatorial general election, are not a joke and we deserve to be treated well, so giving us One (1) commissioner in the Ikorodu division is just like a slap, that is why we are out to register our complains before the masses today.

We are the mobilizer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) political Party, Ikorodu gave 99% of His resources into the last election, and now we expect nothing short of good numbers of our indigenous people in the executive cabinet of our Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. That is why we are outside, said; the convener.

He further said, What we intended to do was to shoot Ikorodu out of Lagos for just One (1) hour, and we were able to achieve that, despite we conducted ourselves in a very peaceful manner. We just wanted our people to be part of it by creating an artificial gridlock, that will send a signal to all the concerned authorities, to know that, Yes; we mean business. And after this, if we did not hear any reasonable feedback from our leaders and Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, we are going to go out again en-mass to shoot the entire State down; We have achieved it. It is not a threat, but we can do it, said; Hon. Prince Adeyinka Adedeji Osho.

This is not my thing, neither is it the Ikorodu majority leader in the legislative chamber thing, Hon. Wasiu Sotanwa, or Hon. Jamiu Aregbe aka Aroja's thing, and so on. This is not our thing. We are talking in regard to the general interest of the Ikorodu Indigines. As we are representing the indigenes, so is it, representing the mire resident.

The majority leader of Ikorodu Local Government Legislative Chamber, Hon. Wasiu Sotanwa popularly known as Pappy also buttress to express his appeal to His Excellency Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu. He said we have worked tremendously well to make sure our leaders, emerge. He, therefore, said that Ikorodu has the highest votes in the recent 2023 general election for Presidential and Gubernatorial elections.

Ikorodu consists of six (6) local council development areas (LCDA) which are Ikorodu Central, Ikorodu West, Ikorodu North, Igbogbo-bayeiku, Ijede, and Imota LCDA. All these LCDAs relied on His promise, said after the victory of his second term, emergence. So as we make the president happy during His election, this is a shock for every one of us in Ikorodu to see just One (1) commissioner's name on the Lagos State Governor release names.

The Governors' feedback is yet to be known, and if we have more than One (1) Commissioners in the executive cabinet of His Excellency Governor, we believe Ikorodu division will feel appreciative and we be ready to work with him diligently, said; Majority leader of the Ikorodu Local Government legislative Chamber.
