The Ikorodu Division Resource Development Group (IDRDG) through the Ikorodu Division Human Resources Development Board (IDHRDB) presents the 21st Memorial Lectures in honour of Late Professor A.A. Adegbola PhD, FAS with the theme, ‘’Insights and Career Prospects in Emerging Technologies plus the Framework for Communal Immersion & National Prosperity’’ on Saturday, November 4th, 2023 at Micheal Olutusen Onafowokan Hall, Ikorodu Ultra-Modern Town Hall with the presence of diverse dignitaries, e.g. Distinguished Chairman of The Day, Honourable Chief Judge of Lagos State, Honourable Justice Kazeem Olarenwaju Alogba; A legal Practioner, former Lagos State Majority Leader of the House of Assembly, Honourable Sanai Agunbiade; Father of The Day, Doctor Akinola Ajose Ogunlewe; Mother of The Day in absentia, Mrs Folorunsho Alakija; Special Guests of Honour, Consultant Paediatrician, Dr. (Chief) Junaid Oluseyi Solebo; Business Tycoon, Alhaja Modupe Sanni famously known as ‘’Shine-Shine’’; Chairman, Planning Committee, Alhaji Fatai Olalekan Lasisi, FCA; Otunba Fuwagboye of Ikorodu, Chairman, IDRDG, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, FNSE; Chairman, IDHRDB, Bashorun Babatunde Tajudeen Rotinwa, B.Sc, M.Sc; The Sekunmade of the Ipakodo Kingdom, Osomekun l, His Royal Majesty, HRM Oba Bashiru Aremu Sotonwa; The Adeboruwa of Igbogbo Kingdom, Emugoriade l, His Royal Majesty Oba Semiudeen O. Distinguished Chairman of the Day, Honourable Chief Judge of Lagos State, Honourable Justice Kazeem Olarenwaju Alogba in his speech, said; As a Yoruba man, He came in honour of the late A.A. Adegbola memorial lectures to learn, because opportunity comes through learning. It is the right time to enjoy all the pain mother Mrs. Adegbola has gone through after the de*th of the late Prof. Anthony A. Adegbola PhD, FAS; Sweet is the memories of the lectures, it is important to witness her husband's impaction, Honourable Chief Judge of Lagos State said this in remembrance of the late Prof. A.A. Adegbola.
the 21st memorial lectures were presented by Director, Adetokunbo Babatunde Sofoluwe Centre for Information Technology & Systems, University of Lagos, Professor Muhammed Olawale Hakeem Amuda, (PhD, R.Engr.) who doesn’t believe in JAPA syndrome, spokes about the difference between career job, and being enslaved strategically; said, what makes a career job is working, earning, and learning at the same time to become self-reliance through digital literacy to the digital economy.
Says, the olden days communal living methodology of building a career was by agricultural business, working and surviving with the profit. Having a profession without digital technology skills is like having a handy profession without digital technology is no career. Digital Technology is paramount, especially now that we are in the modern era of the internet. Sustaining a career job without Digital Technology will be no career because there will not be any midst to sustain the profession. He then conclusively proffers a solution to the high rate of unemployment in Nigeria, saying, that capacity building of the masses will help reduce unemployment and poverty rate in the country, from imagine
technology to digital economy governance, he proposed.
Says, Late Professor A. A. Adegbola is no more, but his ideology lives on. Promoting scientific technology and identifying the areas of concentration for capacity building as a nation through imagining technology for societal development will help solicit for the issues affecting the economic growth of the country.
Nigeria can achieve this in the next twenty (20) years; There is hope for Ikorodu, there is hope for Lagos State, and Nigeria at large. He thereby encouraged all households to have internet technology for creativity and idea generation. Prof. Muhammed Olawale Hakeem Amuda, PhD, R.Engr. said this during the 21st memorial lecture in honour of the late Prof. A.A. Adegbola PhD, FAS.
In the keynote address of the Chairman, IDHRDB, Bashorun Babatunde Tajudeen Rotinwa at the 21st memorial lecture, he urges the students to devote their time to studies and be the best in their area of specialisation.
Father of The Day, Doctor Akinola Ajose Ogunlewe in his speech, after the existing protocols had been observed, offered an outstanding prayer for the upcoming generation. Says, The future of tomorrow is in your hands, so children should emulate people like the late Prof. Anthony Afolabi Adegbola PhD, FAS, and other elites here present with the donation of One million naira.
Awardees thereafter were awarded. Award presented by the Sekunmde of Ipakodu, Osomekun 1, His Royal Majesty, HRM, Oba Bashiru Aremu Sotomiwa to the Chairman, Executive Management Committee of Prof. Adegbola Science Centre, Sir. ENGR. (Chief) R.O. Shoberu, others.
