​Hall Of Fame 2023: IDRDG Celebrate Indigenous Legacy’s Achievements.

The Ikorodu Division Resource Development Group (IDRDG) had the seventh (7th) Edition of The Prestigious Ikorodu Division Hall of Fame on Thursday, November 23rd, 2023 at Ikorodu Ultra-Modern Town Hall, Olubi Street, Ikorodu, Lagos State, Nigeria to lunch compendium of inductees and induction/admission into Ikorodu Hall of Fame.


This was done to reveal the eminent individuals’ impacts on the world-famous Ikorodu indigenes, who have historically participated tremendously in promoting their heritage ‘’Ikorodu Division’,’ and to celebrate their extraordinary achievements for the upcoming indigenous products to emulate.


The Chairman, Ikorodu Division Resource Development Group (IDRDG), Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe and members launched Inductees & Induction/Admission into the 7th Edition of Ikorodu Division Hall of Fame.


A series of dignitaries were present to witness the 2023 Set of achievers, while some classic sets of notabilities were awarded for their legacy achievements.


Among the awardees are:


1. The Lagos-East Senatorial District Legislator, Distinguished Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru was presented an excellent “Legacy Achievement Award”  by the Past Chairman & Chairman of Occassion, IDRDG, former Lagos State Commissioner of Finance, Prince Tajudeen Adedapo Odofin, FCA, who says the reasons why he has to congratulate Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, said his late Father was a judge and a Senator, and Senator Mukhail Adetokunbi Abiru is also a present Senator Legislating for Lagos East Senatorial District, and former commissioner of finance. “I keep saying, that Ikorodu can run Lagos State Government successfully”, he said.


2. The Ikorodu Federal House of Representatives, Chairman of House Committee on Defence, and Member of various House Committees in the 8th & 9th Assembly, Hon. “Prince” Babajimi Adegoke Benson, MHR, duly represented by “the Director General of iCare Foundation”, Mayor Muyideen Sanwoola was presented an excellent “Legacy Achievement Award” by Governor Advisory Council (GAC) member, and a “All Progressives Congress (APC) Party chieftain”, Asiwaju Olurunfunmi Basorun who extolled Rep. Babajimi A. Benson's enthusiasm on Ikorodu Division developmental projects. Said, the late T.O.S. Benson, the late popular musician, Bobby Benson and other great Bensons are resourceful, productive and elegant, He said.


3. The Ayangbure of Ikorodu Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, HRM, Adegorunshen V, was presented an excellent “Legacy Achievement Award” by Prince Tajudeen Adedapo Odofin, FCA, who values the great impact of his reining.


4. Ex-Officio I, IDRDG Executive Committee Member, and Immediate past Chairman, IDRDB, former chairman, Lagos State Local Government Service Commission, Sir, Bashorun Babatunde T. Rotinwa was presented a “Legacy Achievement Award” by Prof. Emeritus (Chief) Kunle Ade Wahab, OFR, OON in congratulations.


5. The First Female Attorney General in Ikorodu Division, Chief (Mrs.) Wonuola Folami was also presented a “Legacy Achievement Award” by ‪Principal Partner, Bode Ogunleye & Co. (Chartered Accountants), ‬Prince Bode Ogunleye, FCA in congratulations.


6. Former Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Head of Service, Prince Adesegun Ogunlewe was presented a Legacy Achievement Award by The ‪Principal Partner, Bode Ogunleye & Co. (Chartered Accountants), ‬Prince Bode Ogunleye, FCA, says; “God will continue to you as he presents the award”.


7. The First Professor of Mathematics in the Ikorodu Division, and Vice Chairman of the Ikorodu Division Resource Development Group (IDRDG), Prof. Michael O. Ajetunmobi presented a legacy achievement award.


During the speech delivery by Distinguished Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru after all, protocols were duly observed, said, His Royal Majesty, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi ought to have been an eminent personality to address this, but in regards to protocols he has to oblige. 


Said, “We as the new inductees of the 2023 Prestigious Ikorodu Division Hall of Fame class should establish their best for the upcoming generation to emulate”. 


Prince Jamiu Adio Saka and others were inducted into the Prestigious Ikorodu Hall of Fame, in 2023.


In an interview with Professor Ajetunmobi, the mathematician, said; a huge sum of money from the group was used on the children. “We have spent a huge sum of money on the students; We bought them Jamb forms, GCE Forms, books and computers”. 


“There is nothing in Mathematics, it only needs certain virtues. You can never tell a lie if you are a mathematician. If you are a Mathematician, you must be highly dedicated, with these virtues nothing in Mathematics”. 


“Once you are born and you don't know how to tell a lie, you are a mathematician”. Mathematics is not science because you don't collect data, Professor Ajetunmobi said.


In an interview with Chairman of IGRDG, Prince Adesegun Ogunlewe, said; He is a professional athlete who has represented Nigeria on different occasions. 


Says, He is happy for been inducted today. “I do not have too much time, maybe one year more”, because he has spent over 30 years serving humanity as a result of contributing his quota towards nation-building, said in contemplating retirement into his private life. Chairman IDRDG, Prince Adesegun Ogunlewe said in appreciation.  


Dr (Otunba) Saheed O. Ibikunle anchored the event programmes of the day.
