Rep. Jimi Benson Facilitates “80 Bed Mother and Child Hospital” In Imota LCDA.

The Ikorodu Federal Constituency’s Representative, Hon. “Prince” Babajimi Adegoke Benson, MHR facilitated “Eighty (80) Bed Mother and Child Hospital” to Imota Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Ikorodu, Lagos State, Nigeria which was commissioned on Tuesday, January 2nd, 2023 by the 30 sponsored bill legislator of the 74th bills, the Speaker of the Ninth (9th) National House of Representatives of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abass.
This hospital is Constructed and Equipped by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to The President on Sustainable Development Growths (OSSAP-SDGs), January 2024.
Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abass therefore commended Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson for his diligence, said; “I want to express my profound gratitude to Mr Jimi Benson, your dedication and relentless advocacy has made this project a reality.
“This project epitomises your commitment to the needs and well-being of the good people of this constituency”.
A series of dignitaries were in attendance to witness the mother and child’s hospital built for caring and protection purposes. Their presence is as follows below:-

The Ramodu of Imota, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ajibade Agoro, rejoiced for bringing in such a healthy developmental project to Ikorodu, specifically, Imota jurisdiction.
Says, the community was excited about the project, adding that it would not only reduce the cost of going to general hospitals at Ikorodu and Agbowa but also ensure fast access to healthcare services.
Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson said during his public address, that, on their way to the event, Excellency, Mr Speaker asked him a question, “You promised me 30 minutes that we would be at the venue, we are not there, Rep. Replied, “the roads are bad”. How come you have six local governments that are non-existent? Excellency Speaker asked me those questions people asked me daily, Rep. Jimi Benson said.
Due to the bad road, Mr Speaker, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abass thereby gave some assurances that some more goodies are going to come to Ikorodu Division. “Ikorodu haven't seen anything yet”, they agitate.
He added that Mr Speaker has given us sporting facilities, hospitals, and a stadium as well, “I'm sure you will give us a befitting hostel”, Mr Speaker gladly approved openly. “He will help us to complete it”, said; Jimi Benson.
The Ayangbure of Ikorodu Kingdom, His Royal Highness, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi also boldly stated the reason why the rural Obas across Nigeria need to be reckoned with.
Says, without referring to our citizen Speaker, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abass for being here, “I mentioned it to Mr President when we hosted him a few days ago, And Mr President in his wisdom, referred me to the National assembly, that, it is their issue to take care of; “I have the opportunity to have it one on one to discuss with you (Mr Speaker), and I am discussing it in the open now with the Obas to ask what have we done for you to deprive the rural Obas of taking part in the governance of the Federal Republic of Nigeria?”
The president said it is a constitutional matter, What is a constitutional matter? Who made it constitutional to remove us? Where was it written in the constitution to remove the functions of Obas in the governance of the Federal Republic of Nigeria? It is not in the law and they can never tell us that it is a constitutional matter, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu asked.
“I am talking about all the traditional rulers in Nigeria and not within Lagos State alone”, Oba Shotobi specified.
H.E. Princess “Dr.” Adejoke Orelope Adefulire, OFR, SSA to the president on SDG announced in her public address as a Mother, says, “We don't want issues to happen” If you notice that you are pregnant, come, they will attend to you, they will check necessary things that they need to check on the day of delivery. It makes it very easy for pregnant women and also makes it very easy for the doctor to attend to you, and have your baby taken home.
“Ensure also that when you have your baby, come for immunization”. Give your children proper care for them to grow, be happy and healthy”.
“We will continue to prioritize interventions with potential impact on the lives of the poor and vulnerable population of our society so that no Nigerians will be left behind”.
Princess Adejoke Orelope Adefulire thereby thanked President Bola Tinubu, and Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu for working closely with sub-national governments to deliver key interventions to fast-track the actualisation of SDGs.
And also congratulates the political leaders, political members, and the Ikorodu Federal House of Representative, Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, including the good people of Ikorodu.
During Speaker of the Ninth (9th) National House of Representatives of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abass's speeches said; that the projects complement the federal government's efforts to improve health care, just as the day President Bola Tinubu, GCFR, signed the 2024 Appropriation Act, funding for health stands, at about 5% of the total budget, representing the highest figure to health since 1999, In 2021 and 2022, the total health budget was 4.1% and 4% respectively, in line with the renewed hope agenda of the president. The House will ensure they improve health funding to meet Nigeria's needs.
There are still much work to be done to achieve the first head coverage, the Government will continue to invest in healthcare infrastructure, training and retention of healthcare professionals and creating policies that prioritize our nation's health, as the government continues to invest in health technology and telemedicine, improve healthcare financing mechanisms, fix health care infrastructure and intensify capacity development, “I encourage our healthcare professionals, especially the young ones, not to resist the immediate urge to immediately immigrate and work with us to address the immediate challenges affecting this very important sector”, he said.
In conclusion, “I want to assure you that the government and the House of Representatives remain steadfast in our commitment to improving healthcare at all levels of the Nigerians' support and collaboration”. We will continue to make strides towards healthier, stronger and more resilient Nigeria. May it become a big come of hope and healing for the community.
Speaking, Speaker of the National House of Representatives also urge to request the Ayangbure of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Adewale Shotobi to offer him two royal servant that will be the Northern Royal Majesties servants, Kabiyesi reciprocated, they are both Princess and Prince from Ikorodu Division.
In an interview with The Managing Director of Ikorodu General Hospital, Dr. Taiwo Hassan, said; the newly built General Hospital in Imota will reduce the pressure on medical services, and also reduce the maternal death of pregnant women and children in Ikorodu Division.
He said this in appreciation to the Federal Government, and to the facilitator of the 80-bed mother and child hospital project.
