source of living. This night market station from benson bus-stop through
Ikorodu garage roundabout, some of them shed on the walkways, while some on the
highways which mostly lead to decongestion of road for the people coming from
Lagos to their various destination.
To avoid the loss of lives

notify the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Ayodeji
Adesina on why he should intervene through making use of his respected office
against the risk taking by the night market traders hawkers on the highway and
under high tension.
Once beating, twice shy; it
was unaware when electricity high tension exploded some years back at Ikorodu
garage which affected allot of lives and properties due to negligence, we don’t
pray for such incident to repeat itself again. So, to avoid such incidents, road
accidents, and inappropriate functions of marketing; kindly stay safe and
protected from danger.

Shoneye, said; initially the market was established to be morning market, but
the rampant development and developing of the city has increases more
residents/population which makes it gradually shifted to 3pm to serve the
corporate workers closing by 4pm daily as their target audience during the
working days in a week. “The market centered within the aforesaid environs
(Allison-Owolowo-Amuludun) start by 3pm and close by 10:30-11:30pm daily”.
Alhaja Sekinat further expressed
that “Most people selling and hawking on Ikorodu garage highway market does not
reside in Ikorodu; some are from Oshodi, Ijede, Ishagamu, agbowa, Itokin,
Ijebu-ode etc. “We have tried our possible best to chase them from the highway
and under high tension, but they refused”, no coordination, everybody just come
and shed; she emphasized.
She thereby advises the
traders showcasing and selling on the highway/under electricity high tension
should please endeavor to acquire a space at the recognized and structured
markets across Ikorodu division, this will help protect your goods and become
part of the positive growth of the city.
The Government knows what
to do; perhaps if the Government can proffer a specific measure of space or
create a protected market space for the visiting traders, that will be a
laudable idea if acknowledge, and keep them safe and protected from these
visible danger, instead of chasing them totally.
In an interview with one of
the visiting trader selling on Ikorodu garage Highway, Mrs. Basirat Olaogun Says,
the essence of trading on the major road is to attract their target audience
slash customers in other to avoid nonprofitable business venture.
Says, if the King, HRM Oba

Hon. Wasiu Ayodeji Adesina can create a night market space in affordable rate
will eradicate the trading and selling on the highway.
