Senator Tokunbo Abiru’s Heartfelt Tribute To Asiwaju Reuben Olorunfunmi Basorun On His 86th Birthday


On behalf of my family and the good people of Lagos East Senatorial District, we are honoured to extend our heartfelt congratulations to our esteemed leader and mentor, and a member of the prestigious Governance Advisory Council, GAC, Asiwaju Reuben Olorunfunmi Basorun, as he celebrates his 86th birthday.

Sir, your life is a beacon of excellence, integrity, and unwavering service to the people. As an accomplished chartered banker and distinguished lawyer, you have set remarkable standards in every endeavour you have undertaken. Your illustrious career at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), where you rose to the esteemed position of Deputy Director, remains a shining example of your dedication, brilliance, and commitment to excellence.

In public service, particularly during the transformative administration of the late Alhaji Lateef Jakande from 1979 to 1983, as the Secretary to the Lagos State Government, your contributions were nothing short of exceptional. Sir, your leadership within our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) continues to inspire many of us who cherish your fatherly counsel and guidance. 

As you celebrate this significant milestone, we join your family, friends, the Christian community, fellow party members, and well-wishers in honouring you. May Almighty God grant you continued good health, strength, and joy as you remain an enduring source of wisdom and inspiration.
