In a move to strengthen the synergy between federal and state governance, the Senator representing Lagos East, Distinguished Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, participated in a high-level strategic meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, during the President’s recent visit to Lagos State.

The meeting featured prominent members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), the state’s most influential political advisory body. The discussions centered on the continued socio-economic advancement of Lagos and the reinforcement of collaborative governance frameworks.

The closed-door session served as a platform for veteran leaders and the Presidency to align on several critical fronts:

• Developmental Pathways: Deliberating on key infrastructure and economic policies designed to sustain Lagos State’s status as Nigeria’s commercial powerhouse.

• Policy Alignment: Ensuring that federal initiatives and state goals are synchronized to maximize the impact of governance on the grassroots level.

• Shared Responsibility: Reinforcing the commitment of legislative and advisory bodies to shape decisions that directly improve the standard of living for Lagosians.

Senator Abiru, known for his focus on structural reforms and economic empowerment, emphasized that such engagements are vital for the state's trajectory.

"Being part of this engagement reflects our shared responsibility to continually shape policies and decisions that improve the lives of Lagosians," the Senator remarked.

"Lagos remains on a path of progress, and we will continue to play our part in building a stronger, more prosperous future for our people."

As the representative of the Lagos East Senatorial District, Abiru’s involvement underscores the district's active role in the broader vision for a "Greater Lagos." The meeting concludes a series of high-level consultations aimed at ensuring the state remains a beacon of growth and stability within the federation.
