Artistes and celebrities on Thursday night lit the pre-inauguration concert in honour of President Elect   Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu .  Ahead of his inauguration on May 29, the event tagged: ‘Renewed Hope Concert’ was organised to unite Tinubu’s supporters in celebration. A-list musicians, including Timaya, Tony Tetuila, Pasuma, 9ice, KCee, Asake, Waje, Brymo, BNXN, Fireboy and Naira Marley performed at the concert.  The ceremony took place shortly after the Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR) and Grand Commander of the Order of Niger (GCON) honours, were bestowed on Tinubu and Shettima respectively in Abuja on Thursday. People Appreciates Senator Tokunbo Abiru As Contractor Begins Palliative Work On 32-Km Ikorodu-Itokin Road, Ahead Of Major Rehabilitation

The stabilisation of the 32-km Ikorodu-Itokin Road has started ahead of the major rehabilitation of the critical road that connects Lagos, Ikorodu, Epe, Ibeju-Leeki to other parts of Nigeria. The Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, facilitated the project. Senator Abiru who expressed concern for the difficulties faced by motorists and residents using the corridor  commended the Contractor for initiating palliative work on the road to alleviate the suffering of residents, commuters, and motorists while awaiting the start of the rehabilitation, which is expected to begin very soon. The Ikorodu-Itoikin Road was constructed in 1975 by Taylor Woodrow, under the regime of General Yakubu Gowon.   Nigerian  Youtuber Emdee Tiamiyu has apologised over his comment on Nigerian students studying in the United Kingdom in an interview with the British Broadcasting Corporation(BBC). He was reacting to the wide criticisms trailing his interview on BBC where he claimed many Nigerian students were simply after visas to relocate and not study in the United Kingdom. His interview coincided with the decision of the United Kingdom to ban Nigerian students and others from moving abroad with their relations. President Muhammadu Buhari   has urged the Senate to approve a request to pay judgment debt in the sum of $566,754,584.31, £98,526,012.00 and N226,281,801,881.64 being judgement debt owed by the Federal Government through the issuance of promissory notes. Buhari’s letter of request was read at plenary by Senate President Ahmad Lawan. The letter reads in part: “The Distinguished Senate President may wish to be informed that the Federal Executive Council (FEC) at its meeting of March 29, 2023 approved the liquidations of top priority judgement debts and general judgement debts  owed by Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) through the issuance of promissory notes. “The judgement debts are to be settled through the issuance of promissory notes which will then be redeemed over time through provisions in the budgets of the Federal Government of Nigeria. National Assembly launches radio station

The  National Assembly  through the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) has established a radio station “Democracy Radio” in Abuja to propagate the activities of the legislature. The Director General of NILDS, Professor Abubakar Sulaiman, took reporters on tour of facilities  at the station located in Asokoro in Abuja ahead of the formal commissioning on Wednesday. Sulaiman, while answering questions from  reporters in one of studios of the Democracy Radio, said a newly created Legislative Centre for Security Analysis was also domiciled at the premises of the Radio station.
