This event took place in the Ayangburen palace yesterday, Tuesday, August 20th, 2024 with the presence of Olori Abosede Kudirat Shotobi, Solomade of Ikorodu (High Chief Adeolu Kilani Eda-lulu), Mayegun of Ikorodu division and overseas (High-Chief Azeez Oyebola), eminent educationalist, Chiefs (Baales), Olosugbos, Princes, Princesses, Indigenes, dignitaries, citizens, and the visitors alike.

Having acknowledged every August 20th of the year for the annual Isese-day celebration by the Lagos State Governor, His Excellency Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu in Lagos State; His Royal Majesty, Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi (Kusenla III) ably represented by the P.R.O. of the Association of Africa Traditional Religion International (AATREN), Otunba Lekan Ajirotutu extend His appreciation message to Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi and the council of Lagos State Obas, regarding their effort of making Isese day a global recognition date to be reckon with.

Otunba Ajirotutu appealed to request from the Ayangburen of Ikorodu for the involvement of the Ikorodu divisional local government Chairmen in the subsequent annual Isese-day celebration.

Speaking, Oba Shotobi in his address specified the reason why the gods do not necessarily need to be showcased; "The End Bad Governance recent Protest is a synonym to Isese-day celebration", to have a peaceful environment requires spiritual consciousness and understanding, "To avoid hijackers of the 2024 Isese-day celebration demands spiritual consciousness for peaceful coexistence.

He added in appreciation to the traditionalists in Ikorodu division and Lagos State Youths for their peaceful cooperation, listening, and understanding in making Ikorodu and Lagos State obtain a peaceful record in the recent protest. "The masses' expectation will gradually be attended to by the Government". "With time, the Government will be the one championing the Isese-day", and by the special grace of Almighty God (Olodumare), the Government that will listen to the masses' yearnings will be provided in Ikorodu as envisaged that the next governor will be from Ikorodu.

"Today is a public holiday in Lagos State; The fact that none of the Ikorodu local government Chairmen are here present does not mean they are not involved", said The Ayangburen of Ikorodu.

In an interview with Dr. (Chief) Ayinde Abimbola, a professor of the Art education department at the University of Lagos urged the youth not to be deceived; "Listen and follow your parent's instructions". Let no modern religion i.e. church and Mosques distract you. This is because, the sick people now languish and suffer in churches, singing and clapping to no solution, whereas the solution is in the tradition, which calls for more appeasement to the gods.

Also in an interview with High-Chief Azeez Oyebola, Mayegun of Ikorodu division and overseas, spoke about what the celebration of Isese is all about.

Says, tradition has been the first culture in existence to reckon in the ancient days which must not be erased. He signifies that the forefathers had been in it for a very long time before getting to someone like him, and also referenced the gradual cultivational habit of the African tradition by the Western people.

He added that tradition is very important to reckon with being an original child of Yoruba heritage. "Tradition is superior and good to reckon with". The traditionalists are so happy to have given them a date (August 20th) to celebrate annually, and being the Mayegun of Ikorodu division and overseas, he is personally happy, it is something they felt concerned about before, but now that a specific day has been given as public holiday to celebrate with, they are honestly pleased. He said this in appreciation to the Lagos State Governor, His Excellency Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu. For an environment or State to be peaceful and in order, it requires traditional functions. "The entire world traditionalist appreciates", he said.

In an interview with Mr Shakiru Bolade Agboke, the proprietor of "KESBOL GROUP OF SCHOOLS" in Oreyo, Igbogbo, Ikorodu, Lagos State, said he is very very happy that all the different sections of the African traditional religions are present here today. "There is no way should forget the African religion". Before the Christian and Islamic religions came into Nigeria and Africa, there was a religion, and that was the African religion. The whites went into the African communication system to indoctrinate people with their religion so that people can forget about practicing their originated religion which has led to the issues affecting the democratic process in Nigeria.

Says, he is so happy that a day has been given to celebrate the African religion, but, it would have been better, if it had been designated equally with other noble religions i.e. Christianity and Islam. Emphasized the numerous Muslims and Christians' different public holidays, and suggested that if the Government can equally schedule additional public holidays for the African religion, it will also enhance the effectiveness of the traditional system function by having more days to celebrate their religions.

He further advised the youth, said; the fact that everyone living in Nigeria and Africa has individual traces of African religion in their various families; the youth should not forget their root, which is the African religion. "If you forget it, you are forgetting yourself", because when such a person goes otherwise, the African religion will not be there to protect or save such a person.

The people operating the African religious system are honest, transparent, sociable, and do not deceive people. "If the Africans can continue supporting the African religion" most of the problems the Africans, Nigerians and Lagosians are facing will be the things of the past", said; the proprietor of "KESBOL GROUP OF SCHOOLS", Mr. Shakiru Abolade Agboke.
