Home Poultry Empowerment: Senator Tokunbo Abiru Facilitated With NALDA

Edited By Araba, Olawale Enifenilanfe   Over 100 Constituents who were shortlisted for the “National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA) Home Growing Poultry Empowerment Scheme”,  facilitated by Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, on Sunday, November 26, 2023 in Ikorodu, received fully vaccinated Chickens, feeds, and cages to kickstart their poultry businesses.  The aspiring entrepreneurs numbering over 100 were also trained by experts on how to nurture birds, reduce mortality and make it big in the poultry business. NALDA's mandate is to develop rural communities through agriculture and to make agriculture a sustainable business and means of wealth creation for the country. This initiative falls under the Facilitations/Empowerment pillar of the legislative agenda of the Senator. ​ The Senate of the National Assembly concurred to the bill Reps. Babajimi Adegoke Benson sponsored for an act to amend the Electric Power Sector Reform Act, and to address the concerns of host communities and for related matters.  When assented to by the President, host communities, particularly the communities around the Egbin Thermal Power Station in Ikorodu Federal Constituency, will get 5% of the actual annual operating expenditure for the preceding financial year from the various Power Generating Companies in Nigeria (GENCOs) operating within their community.   These funds will be channelled to the development of those communities and ameliorating impact of the activities of these GENCOs.  This is a milestone for the communities to be able to glean the full benefits of hosting the GENCOs. Norwegian council banks on Tinubu’s reforms to boost trade

Speaking on the sideline of the visit of the Council to Oyingbo Stockfish Market, in Lagos Mainland, Director, Africa, Norwegian Seafood Council, Trond Kostveit, said the initial campaign of the Council was directed at ensuring that the Federal Government delisted stock fish and fish heads from the list of items shut out from accessing foreign exchange (forex) from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN’s) official window, adding that now that it has been delisted with the reform of President Tinubu, it is hoped that there will be enough forex in the long run for business people to thrive. “We were working to get stock fish delisted in the hope of getting access to forex to make it cheaper for Nigerian consumers.
